Privacy Policy for Spent

Spent ("the app", "we", "us") is a personal expense tracker that lets you capture
expenses by voice, photo, or text. This policy explains what data we collect, why,
and your choices. By using Spent you agree to this policy.
1. Who provides the app
Spent is provided by Ammar ul Haq. For any privacy question or request, contact:

2. Information we collect
- Account information. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your
name and email address to identify your account. If you continue as a guest,
we create an anonymous account identifier with no personal details.
- Expense data you create. The transactions you capture — amount, merchant,
category, date, currency, and payment method — and the raw input you provide
(typed text, a voice recording, or a photo of a receipt).
- Usage and diagnostic data. Aggregate analytics such as app opens,
sessions, feature usage, device model, operating system, and app version, collected
via Google Firebase Analytics. This does not identify you personally.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the core service: turning your voice, photo, or text into a saved expense.
- To process captures with automated extraction. Your voice recording, receipt photo, or
text is sent to our processing service, which uses the OpenAI API to transcribe and
extract the transaction details (amount, merchant, etc.).
- To store and sync your transactions so they appear across your sessions.
- To understand overall usage and improve the app (via aggregate analytics).
4. Where your data is stored
Your transactions are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) under
your account, secured so that only your authenticated account can read or write them.
Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication. Data is encrypted in
transit.
5. Third-party services
We share data only with the services needed to operate the app:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising.
6. Data retention
Your transactions remain stored until you delete them or delete your account. Raw voice
and image captures are used to extract the transaction and are not retained longer than
needed for that processing.
7. Your choices and rights
- Delete a transaction at any time by swiping it away in the app.
- Delete your account and associated data by emailing
amarulhaq@gmail.com from your account email;
we will remove your data within 30 days.
- Sign out to stop syncing on a device.
8. Children
Spent is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from
children.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections and access rules that
restrict each user's data to their own authenticated account. No method of transmission or
storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the
"Last updated" date above.
